Gettysburg Defeats LC Field Hockey 2-1

HARRISONBURG, VA – The Gettysburg College field hockey team opened a 2-0 lead and held on to defeat Lynchburg College 2-1 Saturday afternoon in a game played at Eastern Mennonite University.

Krissa Browning and Maura Downey each scored first half goals to give the Bullets a 2-0 halftime edge. Hornet junior midfielder Jessi Bowman (Midlothian, VA/Clover Hill) scored on an assist from Morgan Crandall (Belfast, ME/Belfast) shortly after intermission, but the Hornets couldn’t net the tying tally.

Gettysburg (1-0) out shot LC 11-6 and held a 10-7 edge in penalty corners. Elizabeth Foskey (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) and Becca Graham (Meadowbrook, PA/New Church) each split time in net for LC.

Lynchburg (0-1) faces Frostburg State University Sunday at noon on the campus of Longwood University.
