Many other internship opportunities are listed according to the location of the company or the type of internship.
Internships are a vital, integral component of the major in communication studies.
Up to six semester hours in internships and/or independent-study credit may be
applied to the major.
Students intern at local television and radio stations, public relations and advertising
firms, non-profit organizations, hospitals, governmental organizations, offices within
the College, and local industries. Students may also find summer internship opportunities in their hometowns.
The Communication Studies Program's mission is obviously academic, and coursework forms its core, but the curriculum also includes chances to participate in internships and service learning activities. Through the Donovan Media Development Center, students can gain hands-on experience by providing community organizations with promotional materials.
Activities and organizations heighten and diversify a student's education. Academic success may lead to membership in Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Honor Society. Students may also become members of the Society of Professional Journalists.
Are you interested in print and electronic media? Students can write for the weekly newspaper. "The Crit" is published online as well as in print.
