Five Hornets Honored with Release of All-American Men’s Lax List Chad Clark Earns Third-Team Accolades

LYNCHBURG, VA Lynchburg College senior defender Chad Clark (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) earned third-team STX/USILA Division III Men’s Lacrosse All-American honors and four other Lynchburg College student-athletes received honorable mentions Tuesday.

Clark, a senior, anchored the LC defense and was third on the team with 51 ground balls. He received first-team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and all-state honors in the last few weeks, and was also named a Scholar All-American by the USILA. Senior attack A.J. Tinklepaugh (Annandale, VA/W.T. Woodson) was an honorable mention to the All-American team and joined Clark as a Scholar All-American. Clark and Tinklepaugh were only two of 46 Division III student-athletes recognized for the scholar-athlete award - - recipients must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.5 and either be an All-American or a participant in the North-South Senior All-Star Game. Tinklepaugh led the team this year with 31 goals and was second with 47 points, earning first-team All-ODAC and All-State accolades. He was also named the ODAC’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Ryan Cranston (West Chester, PA/Henderson), Brian Kemper (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) and Ryan Quick (Charlottesville, VA/Albemarle) received an honorable mention to the All-American team. Cranston and Kemper took home first-team All-ODAC and all-state honors, while Quick had a spot on the second-team on both squads.

Cranston, a sophomore attack, led the team with 48 points - with 30 goals and 18 assists. Kemper, a senior midfielder, posted 20 goals this season, including five game-winners, and six assists. Quick, a senior midfielder, posted 22 goals and 11 assists.

The Hornets finished the 2006 season 13-4 overall (5-1 in conference), and earned their third NCAA Division III playoff berth in four years.
