NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The Lynchburg College baseball team concluded its 2006 season Monday with a 4-2 win at Christopher Newport University in non-conference action.

Sophomore Jon Crews (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) went 3-4 and drilled a home run and scored twice, while Josh Walker (Manassas, VA/Stonewall Jackson), Lucas Jones (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) and Matt Winston (Roanoke, VA/Cave Spring) each were 2-4. Evan Durrer (Charlottesville, VA/Charlottesville) worked six innings to pick up the victory, scattering eight hits and striking out five. Brandon Weaver (Chesapeake, VA/Oscar Smith) struck out four in 2.1 innings of one-hit relief, and Eric Fitzsimmons (Southington, CT/Southington) got the final two outs for the save.

The Hornets won their final four games to finish the season 23-15.
