Academics

The mission of LC's Residence Life Program is to "develop safe and secure residential communities that foster the development of learning and growth." With that in mind, our First Year Experience (FYE) Program is very responsive to the academic needs of our first year students. By having two residence halls solely for first year students, we are able to cater to the educational needs of these students and enable our staff to provide academic support and other services pertinent to the success of first year students. Each building houses specific spaces for studying and group work. Additionally, there are collaborative efforts with various campus academic partners to bring the resources directly into the residence halls for access by the first-year students.

In addition to the academic enrichment initiatives, many of our programs are tailored to educate first year students on topics relevant to their success, including health and wellness issues, interpersonal skills, and diversity training. These community development efforts are achieved on all floors with each resident assistant, as well as building wide programs and resources, including the monthly FYEstas.
