Living in Mont
Montgomery Hall houses 221 first year students in traditional double occupancy rooms with community bathrooms. Each hall has a lounge with cable TV, kitchen, and laundry facility. Each room is air-conditioned and carpeted with high-speed Internet access. The dimensions of the traditional rooms in Montgomery Hall are 16' by 11'9". For more information, please view the Virtual Tour.
Each floor in Montgomery Hall has a Resident Assistant (RA) that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week while school is in session. The main purpose of our Resident Assistant staff is to work towards our mission by "developing safe and secure residential communities which foster the development and learning and growth." RAs are much more than that however, especially in FYE. They are there to aid all in-coming students with their transition to college. RA's are a wonderful source of campus information, as well as a friend, counselor, mediator, and advisor. Although our RAs are students themselves, they are trained to assist students when they can or refer them to the appropriate people. Montgomery Hall also has a live-in graduate student Hall Director that is responsible for the supervision of the staff and is able to assist students in all the areas mentioned above. In addition, Montgomery Hall has a professional, full-time Area Coordinator for FYE who lives on campus and is available at any time to assist in situations as they arise. To contact one of the above mentioned staff members, please visit our Meet the Staff page.
Beginning in the fall of 06, Montgomery Hall will offer the advantage of hosting a computer lab, study lounge, and classroom space. The computer lab will consist of two computers and a printer that will be accessible to all Montgomery Hall residents. This computer lab will be located on the 1st floor of the building. Writing Center tutoring hours will be held in this location. The study lounge and classroom space are both located on 2nd floor short. These rooms will be open 24 hours a day for studying, holding study groups, and tutoring sessions. We advocate the use of all three of these locations to enhance your academic success throughout your first year here at Lynchburg College.
Students living within the FYE program are held to the same standards as everyone else. The RAs are also there to enforce policies and to hopefully educate all residents. At Lynchburg College, we stress the fact that each residence hall is a community and your home for the next 10 months. We want our residents, especially first year students in a new experience, to feel relaxed and at home. On that same note, we ask all residents to respect each other and the building. The RAs are there to make sure that happens. All Lynchburg College policies are outlined in the Hornet, which is the LC Student Handbook. All incoming students receive one each year at Orientation and some of the bigger policies are explained in it. Some other things to keep in mind:
- Montgomery Hall is a substance free building and no alcohol may be present at any time within the building (regardless of age).
- Quiet Hours are from 11 pm to 11 am, 7 days a week and 24 hour Courtesy Hours are in effect (All of our residence halls abide by this policy).
- We expect all of our residents to have fun, enjoy themselves and ask questions!
