Lynchburg Track Competes at Duke Invitational Saturday

          DURHAM, NC – The Lynchburg College outdoor track and field team competed in day two of the 19th annual Asics Duke University Invitational Saturday afternoon.

            The Hornet day was highlighted by its 4x100 relay team, defeating many Division I teams, including the University of Virginia with a time of 42.28. In the 800 meter run, Bryan Kirby (Alexandria, VA/Edison) ran a team-best 1:56.78, while Chris Irby (South Boston, VA/Halifax County) was right behind with a 1:59.58 mark.

            Danielle Garafalo (Boxford, MA/Masconomet) clocked a 17.27 in the women’s 100 meter hurdles, and distance runner Ricky Flynn (Gaithersburg, MD/Damascus) finished the 5000 meter jaunt in 15:27.

            Lynchburg will continue its outdoor schedule next Saturday, when they travel to the University of Virginia for a 9 a.m. meet.
