LC Track at Duke Invitational
DURHAM, NC – The Lynchburg College outdoor track & field teams competed Friday on the first day of the 19th annual Asics Duke University Invitational.
Freshman Chris Martin (Roanoke, VA/Patrick Henry) bettered his NCAA qualifying distance in the triple jump, leaping 47 feet at Duke. Sophomore Mary Mohay (Fairfax, VA/Robinson) also qualified provisionally for national competition, clearing 11 feet in the pole vault.
Freshman Earl Graves (Richmond, VA/Heritage) ran the 200-meter dash in 22.85 and the 400-meter dash in 50.46, while Willie Tolbert (Missouri City, TX/Hightower) finished the 400 in 50.51. McKinley Johnson (Madison Heights, VA/Amherst Co.) ran the 100-meter dash (11.21) and the 400-meter hurdles (58.63). Ricky Flynn (Gaithersburg, MD/Damascus) finished the 5,000 meters in 15:23 and Sarah Funderburke (Fredericksburg, VA/Courtland) ran the women’s 400-meter dash in 61.25.
The invitational will continue on Saturday, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
