The Hornets took an early 3-1 lead behind two tallies from junior Kelly Vornadore (Springfield, VA/Bishop Ireton), but VWC netted the next six goals to take a 7-3 edge. Lynchburg trailed 7-5 at the break and 10-8 with 15 minutes left on the game clock - - before Boyd put the game away with three unassisted goals. Sophomore Nichole Locher (Yorktown Heights, VA/Yorktown) paced LC offensively with two goals and two assists, while freshman Caitlin Green (White Hall, MD/Hereford) scored twice and recorded an assist. Junior goalie Ji-Young Eun (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) kept her team in the game with 19 saves. Bethany Adomanis had two goals and an assist for Virginia Wesleyan (7-1/3-0 ODAC). Aimee Sraver, Stacey Trow and Kember Greco each found the back of the net three times and Laura Wallace had a goal and three assists. Lynchburg (4-2/2-1 ODAC) travels to Hollins University for another conference game Wednesday at 4 p.m. ### |
