LC Women’s Lacrosse Defeats CNU 11-8

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Senior Cressita Bowman (Dallas, TX/Greenhill) had four goals Sunday to lead the Lynchburg College women’s lacrosse team to an 11-8 win over Christopher Newport University.

The Hornets (3-1) scored the last three goals of the first half and the first two of the second to open a commanding 9-4 advantage. Shannon Smith (Marshall, VA/Osborn Park), Sarah Rahl (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk) and Kelly Vornadore (Springfield, VA/Bishop Ireton) each had two goals and an assist, while Nichole Locher (Yorktown Heights, VA/Yorktown) assisted on two goals. Ji-Young Eun (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) made 16 saves in net.

Katie Doherty scored four times for CNU (5-3) and Shayna Sargent netted two tallies.

The Hornets host Bridgewater College Wednesday at 4 p.m.
