Can I afford a private education at Lynchburg College?
Lynchburg College, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the federal government provide resources to support financial aid packages. During the 2006-2007 academic year, LC awarded more than $18 million in institutional funds for financial aid programs. Several payment plan options assist families in paying the balance remaining after financial aid has been awarded.

How do I apply for financial aid?
Complete a 2007-2008 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available from your high school guidance office or LC, and mail it to the Federal Student Aid Programs Office as soon after January 1 as possible. The FAFSA is the only application that Lynchburg College requires for determination of financial aid eligibility. The Lynchburg College School Code is 003720. The FAFSA is also available and may be completed on-line at the following web site: http://fafsa.ed.gov/

Priority deadline for receipt of the FAFSA is March 1 for new freshmen. Applications completed after March 1 are considered for aid that is still available and for which the student qualifies. Transfer and Access students should complete the FAFSA by March 1. New students will be notified of financial aid eligibility within two weeks of the receipt of their Student Aid Report from the Federal Student Aid Programs Office.

I do not think I qualify for financial aid. Should I apply?
Numerous pieces of information from the FAFSA are used to determine a student’s need for financial aid. Many persons believe their income excludes them from financial aid eligibility, but in fact, many are eligible for need-based assistance. Since there is no cost involved in submitting the FAFSA, all families are encouraged to do so.

Can I receive an early estimate of my eligibility for financial aid?
Because we know that students and their families are concerned about the cost of higher education, we encourage all prospective students to take advantage of our free Early Scholarship and Financial Aid Estimator Service. Providing us with pertinent financial and academic information allows families to receive estimates of potential financial aid awards even before application for admission is submitted. These estimator forms can be obtained from the Lynchburg College Office of Financial Aid between August 1 and January 15.  If you prefer, you may complete the Early Scholarship and Financial Aid Estimator Form online.

Can I receive financial aid each year?
Yes, academic scholarships/awards are renewable for students who maintain the academic requirements for their specific award. Need-based assistance is renewable unless family circumstances change significantly. Students must complete the Renewal Free Application for Federal Student Aid each year by May 1 and maintain satisfactory academic progress.
