Museum Studies students measuring exhibition space The Museum Studies minor is an interdisciplinary program that stresses theoretical concepts and develops practical skills that will prepare students to understand museums as a cultural and educational resource. The Museum Studies minor is open to students in any major. Students with majors in studio art, graphic design, communication studies, French, history, sport management, theatre, and many other majors have enrolled in Museum Studies classes. Electives will be recommended by the museum studies adviser and the chair of the student's major department. The Daura Gallery is used as a primary teaching source for Museum Studies courses.

Museum Studies students have completed internships at the Walters Art Gallery, Baltimore, Maryland; the Peabody-Essex Museum, Salem, Massachusetts; Amazement Square Children's Museum, Lynchburg; the Daura Gallery at Lynchburg College, and other museums.

  • Work one-on-one with museum professionals in the College's Daura Gallery and as interns in museums around the country.
