About the Program

Museum Studies students measuring exhibition space

The Museum Studies Minor is an interdisciplinary program that stresses theoretical concepts and develops practical skills that prepare you to understand and appreciate museums as cultural and educational places.

The Museum Studies Minor is open to students in any major.

Features of the minor:

  • The Museum Studies Minor at Lynchburg College is the only interdisciplinary undergraduate program in museum studies in Virginia.
  • Our students work one-on-one with museum professionals in the College's Daura Gallery and as interns in museums around the country.

  • Students can participate in partnerships with two new museums for hands-on-learning.

  • Students can become one of many successful alumni who now work in museums!

"The interdisciplinary nature of museum studies helps me even in congregational ministry, by learning to look at space and the many facets of any project."

Diana Hodges-Batzka '03, ordained minister
