Lynchburg Men and Roanoke Women Top ODAC Outdoor Track and Field Polls

SALEM, VA – In a vote of the league’s head coaches, Lynchburg sits atop the 2006 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Poll, while the Maroons of Roanoke College are tops on the women’s side.

The Hornets, who have won eight consecutive ODAC championships, received five first-place votes and a total of 34 points to take the top spot.  Reigning Coach-of-the-Year Jack Toms returns Ryan Holmes who captured the triple jump and long jump at last season’s league championship.

Eastern Mennonite posted 29 points and one first-place vote to come in second.  The Royals were followed by Bridgewater (27 points), Roanoke (15 points) Washington and Lee (15 points) and Virginia Wesleyan (six points).

Head Coach Finn Pincus and his Roanoke women’s squad nabbed four first-place votes and a total of 34 points to take the top spot on the women’s side.  Cassandra Williams returns for the Maroons after capturing the 100 and 200-meters at the ODAC Championship last season.

Lynchburg finished second with 28 points and two first-place votes.  The Hornets were followed by Washington and Lee (23 points), Bridgewater (19 points), Eastern Mennonite (16 points) and Virginia Wesleyan (six points).
