Ryan Holmes Named South/Southeast Male Track Athlete of the Year
Dr. Jack Toms Earns S/SE Men’s Coach of the Year Honors

Dr. Jack Toms and Ryan HolmesNORTHFIELD, MN – Lynchburg College junior Ryan Holmes (Glenn Allen, VA/JR Tucker) was recently named the Division III Indoor Track & Field South/Southeast Region Male Athlete of the Year. Hornet mentor Dr. Jack Toms earned the South/Southeast Region Men’s Coach of the Year, his 24th national award.

Both individuals received their awards at the NCAA Awards banquet Thursday night (photo at right) prior to the beginning of the 2006 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by St. Olaf College.

In competition on Friday, Andy Rollins (Ooltewah, TN/McCallie) did not clear the initial height of 15’9.5" in three attempts in the pole vault. The senior was thwarted in his attempt to earn the first All-American honors of his career. Holmes will compete in the triple jump on Saturday.
