About Us Academics Admissions Athletics Giving to the College Graduate Studies Library Student Life

Lynchburg College is strongly committed to all aspects of cultural diversity: race, religion, ethnicity, age, gender, ability, and sexual orientation.  We strive to enroll a highly qualified and diverse student body that will benefit from their Lynchburg College education as well as enhance the education of all our students.

There are more than 50 recognized organizations on campus in which our students get involved.  Special interest groups whose purpose include the promotion of and appreciation for diversity are:

Some members of the BSABlack Student Association (BSA) is open to LC faculty, staff, students, and alumni.  BSA strives to introduce Black culture to the LC community.  The organization promotes cultural awareness and community service in order to establish positive relations and racial climate.  BSA is recognized by the Student Government Association (SGA), allowing it to receive funding for programming and social functions sponsored throughout the year.  BSA's activities include Black History Month events, sponsorship of BET's College Hip Hop Fest at King's Dominion, clean-up and restoration at Lynchburg's historic Black cemetery, tutoring at White Rock Hill Community Center, Party at The Point, and co-sponsorship of the College's Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration.

Pan-Hellenic Council (PHC) is composed of three nationally affiliated, historically Black fraternity and sorority chapters at Lynchburg College.  These organizations include Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, and Delta Sigma Theta sorority.  PHC acts as the governing council for all three organizations.

Lynchburg College Gospel Ensemble specializes in the performance of African-American gospel and contemporary gospel music. The Gospel Ensemble has several performances throughout the year.

To learn more about involvement opportunities with these and other organizations, refer to the Office of Student Activities Clubs and Organizations.

MACS provides support services such as the Summer Transition Program and leadership opportunities including the Multi-Ethnic Perspectives Conference for our multicultural students.
