Johnny Black Scores Five Times as #7 LC Lax Defeats Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, OH – Sophomore attack Johnny Black (Timonium, MD/St. Paul’s) scored five times Saturday to lead the seventh-ranked Lynchburg College men’s lacrosse team to a 17-11 win over #11 Ohio Wesleyan University.

The Battling Bishops (0-1) led 9-8 early in the third quarter before the Hornets rallied. Six-straight LC tallies, two from Black, put Lynchburg ahead for good.

Black added an assist to his career-high goal total. Sophomore Stephen Weis (St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers) had three scores and an assist while junior Brian McCulloch (Annandale, VA/W.T. Woodson) also had three scores. Garrett Curran (Hull, MA/Tabor Academy) made 14 stops for LC.

Karl Zimmerman and Chris Eccles each had three tallies and an assist for OWU.

Lynchburg (2-0) hosts Dickinson College Saturday at 1 p.m. in more non-conference play.
