LC Women’s Lacrosse Upends Guilford 11-7

LYNCHBURG, VA – Eight Hornet players scored Friday as the Lynchburg College women’s lacrosse team defeated visiting Guilford College 11-7 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match-up.

The Hornets scored the game’s first four tallies and led 5-1 at halftime. The Quakers cut the lead to two on three different occasions in the second half, but LC finally extended the lead to 11-6 after three-straight goals. Lynchburg junior goalie Ji-Young Eun (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) had 16 saves to help the Hornets win the contest despite being out shot 33-29.

Sophomore attack Nichole Locher (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) had two goals and two assists for Lynchburg, while Cressita Bowman (Dallas, TX/Greenhill) and Kelly Vornadore (Springfield, VA/Bishop Ireton) each found the back of the net twice. Shannon Smith (Marshall, VA/Osbourn Park) posted a goal and two assists, while Sarah Rahl (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk), Allison Vezzetti (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright), Shannon Kennedy (Dumphries, VA/Forest Park) and Marissa Wilson (Friendship, MD/Calverton School) each scored once.

Allison Brown scored four times and added an assist for Guilford (2-1/1-1 ODAC). Mary Hutchins, Jennifer Abelin and Caryn Washington each had one score.

Lynchburg (1-1/1-1) hosts Averett University in a non-conference match Thursday, March 16 at 4 p.m.
