Faculty members who supervise interns seeking academic credit are expected to:
- Participate with the student and site supervisor in the development of goals and specific learning objectives for the internship;
- Monitor the learning and progress of the intern with regularly scheduled conferences (on site or by phone);
- Visit the student at the internship site regularly and communicate with the site supervisor;
- Participate with the site supervisor in meaningful student evaluations;
- Expect mid-point and final evaluations from student and site supervisors, with follow-up as necessary;
- Encourage student's ability to evaluate his/her own strengths, weaknesses, and learning progress;
- Assign final grades to Registrar's Office electronically;
- Remind students to keep appropriate contacts with the internship coordinator, Scott Robert, Academic and Career Services, 2nd Floor Hall Campus Center, internships@lynchburg.edu; 434/544-8339 (office) and 434/544-8485 (fax).
