
At Lynchburg College, the primary purposes of the internship are to:
- provide an opportunity for students to work directly in an outside firm or agency so that they may connect the classroom and the work environment
- allow students an opportunity to experience the working world so as to solidify career goals
- test possible career choices
- develop personal competencies
- discover more about oneself
- plan for the future.
Internships at Lynchburg College (link to database is from on-campus only) can be paid or non-paid, credit bearing or non-credit bearing, with a for-profit or non-profit organization or company. Since August 2004, 938 Lynchburg College students have completed 1,126 internships for credit. Students earned 4,329 credits through internships at organizations in Lynchburg and beyond including an increasing number of international internships.
