Patricia Stanley
Head Coach
The Lynchburg College athletic department announced recently that Patricia Stanley had been named the new coach mentor of the Hornet cheerleading squad.
Stanley, a 1986 graduate of Winthrop University, was hired for her extensive background in dance and cheering. She served as the assistant cheer coach at Amherst County High School the last three years, where she also managed the junior varsity cheerleading team. Stanley helped host the Seminole District and Region III Cheer Competitions, including organizing decorations, parent volunteers, team warm-up and dressing areas, and hospitality suite for coaches and judges.
Stanley served as a flight attendant for 13 years before coming to the Amherst school system.
Patrice Thompson
Assistant Coach
Thomspon is a 2006 graduate of Lynchburg College with a bachelor of science degree in human development and learning. She has been an active cheerleader since she was eight years old, including on the Hornet squad.
She is currently employed by Lynchburg City Schools as a special education teacher, and also serves as a cheerleading coach at E.C. Glass High School. Thompson is pursuing a masters degree in educational leadership at Lynchburg College.
