Head Coach

Stephanie Tobey completed her second season as the head women’s basketball coach at Lynchburg College, winning seven conference games this season and scaring eventual champion Randolph-Macon in the first round of the ODAC Tournament. Her Hornets finished the 2005-06 season with a 10-15 record and won the last three games of the campaign. The team posted a 3.29 cumulative grade-point average and had a 3.54 in the spring semester.  

Tobey was the head coach at Lasell College (MA) for the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons - a member of the Division III North Atlantic Conference (NAC). With a young team that had no seniors on the roster, the Lasers finished last season with an 11-14 record. Tobey also assisted with the Lasell women’s lacrosse team for one season. She served as an assistant coach at Brown University for one year before moving on to Lasell.

Tobey was a two-sport athlete at Bryant College (RI), graduating in May of 2002 with degrees in business administration and communication, and carried a psychology minor. She was a captain of both the basketball and lacrosse teams, playing center for the Division II basketball program.

Haines comes to Lynchburg after spending a year as the assistant coach at Belhaven College and working camps at LSU, FSU, Clemson, and Duke. She graduated from Mars Hill College with a degree in Spanish. As a member of the cross-country team, she competed in three NCAA Division II National Meets, helped her team win two regional championships and three conference championships, made the North Carolina All-State Team, and was a two-time Academic All-American. Haines also served as a student assistant for the women’s basketball team and helped her track team bring home two conference championships. She is pursing her M.B.A at Lynchburg.
