Career Development (GS105):
This seven-week course introduces students to the career-decision making process through self-assessment, major/career exploration, and the integration of this information into career fields.  The class is offered both halves of fall and spring semester for freshmen and sophomores only.

Ask your academic advisor about adding these courses to your class schedule.

This is a partial list of services available for all students, unless otherwise specified.

Academic Advising:  The professional staff in Academic and Career Services assigns each entering student an advisor who helps the student select appropriate academic programs.   Freshmen continue to work with this advisor until a major is declared when the student is assigned an advisor in the major area.

Career Development: Through Academic and Career Services, students may receive assistance with self-assessment, exploration of possible majors and careers, goal setting, and decision-making and job-seeking skills, such as resume writing and interviewing.  Because initiative and motivation are key factors for career success, students are encouraged to take an active approach toward career preparation beginning their freshmen year.

Connections Program: A comprehensive program to support all freshmen as they make the transition to college life.

The Hornet, Lynchburg College's student handbook, includes information on campus offices and services, a calendar of events, frequently needed phone numbers, the Honor and Student Conduct Codes and judicial regulations.  Please consult your copy of The Hornet for more complete list of resources.

Learning Resources: A variety of learning resources are available on campus to support students' academic progress, including

  • Wilmer Writing Center
  • Math Lab and Math Study Sessions
  • Foreign Language Lab
  • Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS)

Residential Life: The Office of Residence Life is responsible for all aspects of residential living on campus.  The primary goal of the office is to provide a safe and secure residential community that fosters learning and growth.

Student Health and Counseling Services: Student health and counseling services are offered to promote emotional, mental and physical well-being of students.
