Important Dates for Freshmen, Fall 2012

SOAR

Complete by May 15: SOAR Registration and Schedule Preference Forms

  • Make your reservation for Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR) [link will be active by March 1] - sessions will remain open through June 6 or until filled.
  • Complete the Schedule Preference Form (by May 15 or within one week after we receive your enrollment deposit).
  • Download and complete the Student Health Form (PDF) before attending SOAR. You may bring the forms with you to your SOAR session or mail it to the College by August 5.

June 15: Registration Deadline for ABOVE

Above and Beyond Orientation Value Experiences (ABOVE) is a first-year adventure program that takes place before the fall semester begins.

June SOAR Sessions

 Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR) sessions begin on the first day from noon until 1:45 p.m. in Schewel Hall Lobby. For planning purposes, most students are done by 2 p.m. on the second day.

All students not attending one of the June sessions will be included in the August 18-19 session.

  • Thursday and Friday, June 21/22:
  • Monday and Tuesday, June 25/26: SOAR Session II for freshmen.
  • Thursday and Friday, June 28/29: SOAR Session III for freshmen.
    • SOAR Session I for freshmen

July 13: Housing Preference Deadline

  • Complete the Housing Preference Form.
  • This is the deadline for requesting a specific roommate.
  • Room assignments will be made by Friday, August 3 (by email).

August 17/18 (tentative): August SOAR Session

For students not attending one of the June Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR) sessions. Registration starts at 9 am on the first day.

  • Students attending this SOAR session may check in to the College and move into their residence hall on Wednesday, August 17, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. or the morning of Thursday, August 18 (during SOAR registration)
  • All freshmen not attending a June SOAR session must attend this session.

August 20 (tentative): New Student Check-in and Move-in

(For students who attend one of the June SOAR sessions)

  • 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.: New Student Check-In (Schewel Hall)
    Upon arrival, stop by Schewel Hall to receive keys, loft kits, Welcome Week schedule, and valuable information needed to begin your journey at LC. Members of the campus community will be available to help you move into your residence halls.
    NOTE for Students trying out for soccer (men's and women's), volleyball and field hockey:     You may be checking into the college and moving into your residence halls earlier. Please contact your coach or the Athletic Department for more information.
  • 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.: Lunch available in dining hall (parents and guests: $6.50)
  • 5 - 6:30 p.m.: Dinner available in dining hall (parents and guests: $7.50)
  • 8 - 9 p.m.: Connection Group meetings (review your Welcome Week schedule for locations)
  • 9:30 p.m.: Evening Entertainment (to be announced)

August 20-26 (tentative): Hornet Days

All new students are required to attend Hornet Days sessions: evening of August 20 and during day on August 21 and 22

August 23: First Day of Classes
