Progressive Business Forums

Introduction

For the past nine years, the goal of the Progressive Business Forums (PBF) has always been to offer our members the necessary means of staying abreast of the latest business practices and methods while networking with other professionals.

In 2009, the Progressive Business Forum will offer a successfully proven method of peer-based learning to cope with rapidly changing trends more effectively. One of the three pillars of this learning model includes the Harvard Business Review (HBR), the highly respected business journal. Monthly articles are well written and include the latest ideas from experts at the forward edge of management and leadership practices from around the world. Visit the Harvard Business Review web site to see the current articles available to our members.

The second component utilizes the outstanding resources of Lynchburg College's faculty. Each monthly PBF will offer open forum discussions facilitated by a faculty member on the most popular topics from the current month's issue of the HBR. Accordingly, article selection will be based on each faculty facilitator's area of expertise.

Finally, topics selected are announced approximately two weeks before each monthly forum to allow members sufficient time to review the articles before attending the session. You are free to join any forum discussion you feel is relevant to your situation and to switch tables/topics at any time during the forum. Think of it as "Just-In-Time" learning!

Substitutions will be permitted should you be unable to attend or feel one of the topics would best serve someone else in your department or organization.

Who Should Apply

The PBF is designed for supervisors, managers, and leaders within businesses and organizations who are responsible for leading and motivating others while optimizing results and maintaining organizational effectiveness. The educational background of our members is as diverse as the types of organizations represented in our membership.
