The Beard Center's Consortium on Aging is composed of regional healthcare providers, foundation representatives, government agencies, non-profit and for-profit agencies, and community members who meet regularly to network and explore ways to effectively promote healthy aging, address issues affecting the aging population, and improve community services for the aging population and their caregivers in Region 2000. Listed below are the organizations that make up the Consortium on Aging:

Why Join the Consortium?

We need to prepare for the much anticipated silver tsunami as the baby boomers in our Region turn 65 years and older. Our services, recreational and volunteer opportunities, and programs must change and grow to reflect our baby boomers unique needs and expectations.

The Consortium on Aging, under the auspices of the Beard Center on Aging, is working proactively to help prepare for to this influx of older adults into our local community. By promoting partnerships between agencies, individuals, organizations, and local government officials, the Consortium is spearheading local efforts to address the current and future needs of the aging population. The Consortium is leading the way in Region 2000 by increasing awareness of the potential aging crisis, identifying community needs, and promoting community-wide initiatives.

As a member of the Consortium, not only will you have the opportunity to make a difference in our community, you will have a chance to network with other professionals in the field -- something which is especially important during our current recession.
