The Beard Center on Aging's mission reflects Lynchburg College's commitment to understanding and addressing the issues of aging and the needs of older citizens. Special emphasis is placed on community education and outreach involving students, faculty, and staff with older adults and the agencies that serve them. Students are involved in research initiatives, meaningful outreach, educational programs and professional conferences. While helping meet community needs, students develop skills that prepare them for careers in gerontology.
