Dates to Remember

The following are some important dates to keep in mind as you move through the English curriculum in order to get the most out of your educational experience.

Add period:

Prior to the completion of the first full week of the semester

Drop period:

Courses dropped during the first three weeks do not become a part of the student’s permanent record. After this period of time, please consult the current College Catalogue.

Deadlines for applying for honors in the major are:

School Dean's Approval:

  • January candidates October 1

  • May/August candidates February 1

School Dean's Certification for Honors Achieved:

  • January candidates December 1

  • May/August candidates April 1

Applying for Departmental Honors:

Start early. See department chair for application. Usually the honors contract must be completed by the second week of the semester in which you will be applying for honors.

Teacher Preparation:

Teacher Preparation Program Application must be submitted before March 20 of the sophomore year or by November 1 of the junior year

You must sign up to do student teaching in your senior year by:

September 15 if you plan to student teach in the spring,

February 1 if you plan to student teach in the fall.
