Facilities include a main stage 275-seat theatre; a studio theatre/acting classroom; scenic, costume and properties studios; and dressing rooms.

Theatre productions are performed in either the Dillard Theatre main stage or the Studio Theatre.  Three main stage productions, two Dance Works programs and several studio theatre productions are performed each year.  The directing classes use the Studio Theatre for their one-act play series each year.  Students act, direct, design and sometimes write original works for production in our Studio Theatre.

Auditions are open to all members of the campus community.  First year students regularly appear in shows and assume backstage responsibilities.  Academic credit can be earned by acting in or working on productions.  Recent main stage shows include: Much Ado About Nothing, Oklahoma!, Marisol, Antigone, Lend Me A Tenor, Hello Dolly!,  and Into the Woods .

Student Employment Opportunities
A limited number of paid student employment positions are available in the box office and the costume and backstage areas.   In these jobs, you could be building a set, hanging lights, sewing costumes or selling tickets.   No prior experience is necessary, but you must be willing to learn and to commit the time for these tasks.

Fine Arts Events

Professional theatrical guests on campus have included the London Aquila Theatre Company, Lime Kiln Theatre, Alvin Ailey Dance Company, The Magic of the Spencers, and others. These events provide opportunities for student-professional interaction, and entertainment and enlightenment for the campus community.

Alpha Psi Omega
Alpha Psi Omega is the theatre honorary society of Lynchburg College.  Inductions into this group are held twice a year for students who earn points by participating onstage and/or backstage in our theatre and dance productions.  To be inducted into Alpha Psi Omega, students must have high academic standing in their classwork, as well as participating in theatre productions.
