The Prism is the Lynchburg College annual journal of creative works. It’s filled with fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, and artwork of the students and alumni of LC.
Each piece of literature is submitted with a cover sheet and is given a number so it is anonymous. Then, every piece is read and voted on by a jury of students. After the submission deadline, all the votes are counted and the pieces with the most votes are accepted for publication. The artwork goes through a similar process but is seen by art students. The Prism also offers awards for the best literature and art submitted each year.
Openings occur each year for the positions of General Editor, Prose Editor, Poetry Editor, Art Editor, and staff to read and vote. See your English or Art professor or contact the English or Art Department for more information. Call 544-8267 (English) or 544-8349 (Art).
Submissions are accepted in the Fall and Spring semesters. Usually flyers and posters are circulated around campus announcing the deadline and encouraging students to enter. If you write, draw, paint, take photographs, or do any creative artwork, you should consider submitting your best work for The Prism. It could be the start of something big!
