LC to Host Two ODAC Championship games Saturday
LYNCHBURG, VA - Lynchburg College will host two Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship games Saturday on the friendly surface of Shellenberger Field.
The action will kick-off at 2 p.m. as the three-time defending ODAC Champion Hornet field hockey team faces a re-match with Eastern Mennonite University. The two teams have met in the conference finale in each of the last three seasons, with LC winning 3-2 in overtime in 2006, 1-0 in 2007 and 4-2 last fall. Lynchburg (16-4), ranked 10th in the latest NCAA Division III poll, defeated Randolph-Macon College 3-1 Tuesday evening in the semifinals, while second-seeded EMU (10-7) was a 3-1 winner at home against Washington & Lee University in the semi-finals.
The LC men's soccer team, seeded third, will square off with #4 Roanoke College at 7 p.m. to determine the ODAC champion and earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Hornets (15-2-2) rallied from a second-half deficit to defeat second-seeded Hampden-Sydney College 2-1 Wednesday afternoon in the semi-finals, while Roanoke (12-5-4) advanced via penalty kicks over #1 seed Virginia Wesleyan College.
