Endowment

The power of an endowed gift . . .

A robust endowment is one of the main factors in ensuring an insitution's financial and academic strength over the long term. At Lynchburg College, we are committed to increasing our endowment so we can recruit and support the most talented students and faculty and provide our students with an educational experience that prepares them to be effective leaders in their careers as well as in the civic, spiritual, and social dimensions of their lives.
"Because of Lynchburg College, my friends and family notice differences in my confidence, maturity, knowledge and intellect. Without scholarships none of that would have been possible." Eric Donofrio '12
The power of an endowed gift is compelling: It serves the institution in perpetuity. An endowed gift becomes part of the donor's legacy as it ensures a scholarship year after year; as it enables countless students to study abroad; as it sustains a research program so it can provide sound, longitudinal results; as it provides two cans of red paint every April to touch up the Adironack chairs on the Dell.

duPont Challenge for Achievement and Persistence Scholarships

The Jessie Ball duPont Fund of Jacksonville, Florida has awarded Lynchburg College a challenge grant to provide new scholarship endowment funds for the College's Achievement and Persistence Scholarship Program. This innovative program recognizes the academic success of students who begin their college careers with modest high school scholastic records, but who achieve at high levels during their first or second year of college, and is renewable until they graduate. The College must raise a minimum of $100,000 in new gifts and pledges by June 30, 2010 to claim this two-to-one challenge grant in which duPont will contribute approximately $50,000 to the College for this program. Deadline for reaching this goal is June 30, 2010.
