LC Riders Compete at Bridgewater Show
Multiple First Place Awards for LC Riders
Bridgewater, VA- A total of twelve members of the Lynchburg College equestrian team competed Saturday as they took second place overall in the Bridgewater Show. LC scored 31 points, while Hollins University won the event with 36 points.
Two freshmen riders led the charge for the Hornets, with Krissy Guthrie (Glenmore, PA/ Downingtown) taking first place in intermediate fences and Emily Eckenberger (Weston, CT/Weston) also taking first in novice flat. Junior Drew Nichols (Frederick, MD/ Gov. Thomas Johnson) placed first in the walk-trot and Caroline Thompson (Fredericksburg, VA/ James Monroe) garnered second place honors in the walk-trot-canter.
Other notable finishers were sophomore Kelly Gerland (Malvern, PA/Great Valley), who took second in open fences and third in intermediate flats. Also, Katie Bremen (Saint James, NY/Smithtown) and Rachel Jones (Toano,VA/Warhill) took second and third places honors, respectively in novice fences.
