Randolph Bows Out of Men's Soccer ODAC Tournament to Lynchburg College 6-0

Pat BrownLYNCHBURG, VA - Randolph College, the six seed in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's soccer tournament, bowed out of the tournament field to Lynchburg College by a score of 6-0 Saturday night from Shellenberger Field on the campus of Lynchburg College. LC will travel to Hampden-Sydney College on Wednesday to face second seeded Hampden-Sydney College in the ODAC Semi-Finals.

Donald Hart III put LC on board in the 12th minute as he got a low lining shot past the keeper to make it a 1-0 game. Pat Brown (Williamsburg, VA/Christchurch) put in a Josh Reed (Newark, DE/Caravel Academy) pass in the 29th minute and Shawn Bender (Virginia Beach, VA/Bayside) scored just two minutes later off a Cam Smith (Goode, VA/Jefferson Forest) feed. Shane Spanninger (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) concluded the first-half scoring with an unassisted tally in the 38th minute. Brown and Bender each added an unassisted score in the second-half to give the final 6-0 score.

Lynchburg (14-2-2) outshot Randolph (6-9-4) 17-8 and held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks. Matt Sturdivant (Bear, DE/Caravel) played 68 minutes in net to receive the win.
