Takes #1 Seed in ODAC Tournament, Lynchburg Receives 3rd Seed

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - The Virginia Wesleyan College Marlins defeated the Lynchburg College men's soccer team 2-0 to end an LC 12-game undefeated streak. The Hornets needed a tie or a win to secure the #1 seed in the upcoming Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament, but the loss drops LC to the third seed.

Lynchburg outshot the hosts 19-9, but Ryan Zmuda turned back nine Hornet shots to preserve the shutout. Brandon Massie put the Marlins on board in the 7th minute and John McKenzie converted a pass from Harrison Myrdal in the 29th minute for the insurance goal.

Lynchburg held a 7-4 edge in corner kicks while VWC registered 19 of the games 36 fouls and also collected six of the seven yellow cards handed out.

Lynchburg will host Randolph College, the #6 seed, on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament with a time to be determined. Lynchburg defeated Randolph College 3-0 on Shellenberger Field on September 19.
