Lynchburg Volleyball Cages Vixens in Three Games 

                SWEET BRIAR, VA - The Lynchburg College volleyball team won its sixth match in its last seven times out Tuesday, as the Hornets breezed past the Vixens of Sweet Briar College 3-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

Rachel Huffman had a solid night in a 3-0 win over Sweet Briar College Tuesday                Lynchburg (18-7/8-2 ODAC) finishes its ODAC schedule with its best conference record since 2000, when then-coach Dr. Marie Lewis's clan finished 17-10 overall and 8-2 in the league. LC is guaranteed of at least a third-place finish in the ODAC, and could win the regular season title depending on the finishes of Randolph-Macon College and Washington & Lee University Wednesday.

                LC was never in danger Tuesday, winning by scores of 25-11, 25-12 and 25-18. Lynchburg also continued its run over Sweet Briar, having not lost to the Vixens since the 1990 season.

                Pacing the way offensively for the Hornets was Elena Kritter (Culpeper, VA/Rappahannock), who finished with nine kills and eight digs. Junior Michelle Boucher (Chesapeake, VA/Nansemond-Suffolk) had eight kills in 12 attempts, while Rachel Huffman (Virginia Beach, VA/Bayside) finished seven of her eight attacks. Freshman Rebecca Loftis (Coventry, CT/Coventry) had six kills and two solo blocks.

                Freshmen setters Brooke Moughon (Mathews, VA/Mathews) and Alexis Foster (Franklin, VA/Southampton) each finished with 13 assists, while fellow newcomer Rachel Turk (Salem, VA/Salem) posted 12 helpers. Senior libero Savannah Tinsley (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) and junior Jasmine Murphy (Shipman, VA/Nelson County) each posted 10 digs for LC.

                Lynchburg will finish its regular season Thursday evening with a non-conference battle with the Panthers of Ferrum College at 6:30 p.m.
