Joanie Snyder Breaks Out for 3 Goals to Lead LC Women's Soccer to a 5-0 victory

Joanie SnyderLYNCHBURG, VA - Joanie Snyder (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) broke out for three goals on Sunday afternoon to lead the Lynchburg College women's soccer team to a 5-0 non-conference victory over the Monarchs of Methodist University. The Hornets extended their shutout streak to four contests and have recorded a shutout in 10 of their 15 games on the season.

Kristen Melchiori (Chantilly, VA/Chantilly) opened the scoring in the 17th minute as Brittany Klippstein (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) headed over an Ashley Hoath (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon) corner kick for the double assist. Snyder proceeded to go on her scoring tear with an unassisted tally in the 31st minute, and she added her second goal of the day off a Jessica Gonzalez (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) feed 56:11 into the game. Shelley Hoath (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon) tacked on a fourth goal with a Snyder assist on the 62nd minute, and then Snyder concluded the scoring off an Ashley Hoath pass in the 64th minute.

Snyder concluded the contest with seven points (3g, 1a) and Ashley Hoath posted two assists. Methodist recorded 15 saves, six from Kasey Nichols and eight from Sara Altman. The Hornets outshot the Monarchs 41-1 and held a 12-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The women's soccer team takes to the road on Wednesday as they play the Vixens of Sweet Briar College at 4:30 p.m.
