Jennie Pernisi Reigns Victorious at the Blue Ridge Open

Jennie PernisiBOONE , NC - Jennie Pernisi (Camden, NY/Altmar-Parish Williamstown) reigned victorious by a wide margin of 21 seconds in a mostly Division I laden field at the Blue Ridge Open on Friday afternoon from Boone, NC. The women's cross country team also finished in fourth place.

Pernisi ran the seventh fastest 5K time in school history as she clocked in with a time of 19:20 and breezed the second place finisher, Devotia Moore of Duke University, who finished in 19:41. Ashley Meyer (Springfield, MO/Glendale) placed 14th at 20:22, and Kiley Trennepohl (Monticello, IN/The Culver Academies) followed closely behind in 20:32 for 17th overall. Aubrey Berry (Chesapeake, VA/Warren Township) and Monica Ramstad (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) concluded the scoring for the Hornets with times of 20:58 and 21:17 for 31st and 35th placements.

Lynchburg, ranked fourth in the South/Southeast Region, will look to repeat as ODAC Champions in the ODAC Championship meet on Halloween, October 31, at 11 a.m. in Salem, VA.
