LC Women's Soccer Breezes to 7-0 Win at Emory & Henry

      Katie Santos      EMORY, VA - Junior forward Katie Santos (pictured left - Cheltenham, VA/Bishop Ireton) found the back of the net twice to lead the Lynchburg College women's soccer team to a 7-0 victory at Emory & Henry College Wednesday evening in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

            Senior midfielder Ashley Hoath (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon) opened the scoring at 18:44 from Brittany Klippstein (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) to give LC a 1-0 lead. Santos scored from Cecilia Moore (Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson) and Moore added one of her own just before intermission to give the Hornets a three-goal cushion.

            Shelley Hoath (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon), Santos, Sam Halbach (Tabernacle, NJ/Seneca) and Shawn Jackson (Virginia Beach, VA/Floyd E. Kellam) all scored in the second half. LC out-shot the Wasps 43-1 and were awarded all of the game's seven corner kicks. Hayley Poland made 14 stops for E&H (8-6/2-5 ODAC).

            The Hornets (8-2-3/5-1-1 ODAC) host Bridgewater College Saturday at 7 p.m. in another conference game.
