Washington & Lee Drops Lynchburg Volleyball in Five Games

LEXINGTON, VA - The Lynchburg College volleyball team dropped its first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game Wednesday evening, as the Hornets fell to Washington & Lee University 3-2 in action from the Warner Center.

Michelle Boucher led LC with 18 kills Wednesday night at W&L.                The Hornets (12-6/5-1 ODAC) jumped out to an early lead, winning the first set 25-21. The host Generals fought back winning games two and three with scores of 25-21 and 27-25, respectively. Lynchburg took game four 25-23 to force a decisive game five, but the Hornets got down 8-1 quickly and only got as close as 11-7 in a 15-10 loss.

LC was paced offensively by Michelle Boucher (Suffolk, VA/Nansemond-Suffolk), who posted 18 kills on the evening. Sophomore Elena Kritter (Culpeper, VA/Rappahannock) had a balanced evening with six kills, 13 digs and three aces, while freshman Rebecca Loftis (Coventry, CT/Coventry) posted 12 kills.

Freshman outside Rachel Huffman (Virginia Beach, VA/Bayside) registered seven kills and five blocks, and senior libero Savannah Tinsley (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) had team-high 32 digs on the back line. Freshman setter Brooke Moughan (Mathews, VA/Mathews) dished out 30 assists, with fellow newcomer Rachel Turk (Salem, VA/Salem) helping out on 13 kills.                 Lynchburg returns home Friday evening at 6:30 for a non-conference tussle with Mountain State University in Turner Gym.
