The Dell

An interpreter for the hearing impaired will be present at baccalaureate and commencement.

Guests

Because Commencement exercises are traditionally held outdoors, students are not limited to the number of invited guests. However, each student will be issued two tickets for the exercise in the event of inclement weather, and the tickets will be mailed with the invitation. If held indoors, Commencement exercises will take place in Turner Gymnasium, and will be collected at the door. Please be advised that additional tickets are not available.

Attire

Commencement is a formal occasion and participants are expected to wear caps and gowns. Flowers MAY NOT be worn or carried by degree candidates. Diplomas will be presented to properly gowned participants only.

Transportation

Persons needing transportation to and from Lynchburg have a variety of resources at their disposal.

Air: Lynchburg Regional Airport (served by Delta Connections and U.S. Airways Express and shuttle services of Shuttle America and Air Midwest)

Rail: AMTRAK (825 Kemper Street, 434/847-8247 or 800/872-7245)

Ground: Airport Limo Service (for transportation to and from Lynchburg )

Reservations

Alcoholic Beverages

Campus alcohol policies will be strictly enforced during Commencement Weekend. NO alcoholic beverages are allowed during any portion of official Commencement Weekend ceremonies.

Hotel Reservations

All Lynchburg area hotels are crowded during this particular weekend. Families that have not yet made arrangements for overnight accommodations are urged to do so as soon as possible. Please click the link below to find and make hotel reservations.
