Mike Butzgy Leads Lynchburg Golf at Ted Keller Invitational Sunday

    GLEN ALLEN, VA - Senior Michael Butzgy (Miller Place, VA/Miller Place) shot a one-over 73 Sunday in leading the Lynchburg College Hornet golf team to a fourth place finish at the Ted Keller Invitational, hosted by Randolph-Macon College at Hunting Hawk Golf Course.

    Hunting Hawk GC runs a lengthy 6,882 yards, posting a par of 72 over the 18 holes. Butzgy finished tied for fourth place overall, as the Hornets climbed from 11th place Saturday to fourth position thanks to the afternoon's best team score of 293. Lynchburg rebounded from a first round of 315 Saturday to finish a shot better than Bridgewater College and only three behind host R-MC.

    Junior Joey Brunet (Virginia Beach, VA/Kellum) carded a one-over 73 Sunday to finish tied for ninth overall (+9), while sophomore Conrad Anguera (Lynchburg, VA/Carlucci Amer. Int.) fired a team-best score of 72 on day two of the tournament.  Augie Camacho (Suffolk, VA/Lakeland) rebounded from a first round 88 to shoot a 75 Sunday, finishing 19-over for the two days.

    Freshman Santi Anguera (Lynchburg, VA/Carlucci Amer. Int.) rounded out the team score for Lynchburg, as he posted an 82 in the second round. Dusty Scott (Ivor, VA/Tidewater Academy) played as an individual this weekend, and shined as he shot a eight-over 152 (74-78), which tied him for 19th place.

    Christopher Newport University won the team title with a 21-over 597, finishing as the only team under 600. Greensboro College finished +27 for second, while the host Yellow Jackets posted a 605 (+29). Mike Redwood of Bridgewater was the only competitor under par for the tournament, as he won the individual title with a one-under 143.

    Lynchburg finishes its 2009 fall schedule October 11 and 12 at the Virginia Collegiate Golf Championships at Wintergreen Resort.
