Records Shatter as LC Women Take 6th at the Paul Short Invite.
BETHLEHEM, PA - A shakeup in the Lynchburg College women's cross country records book took place Friday as four runners recorded top-ten times en route to earning a sixth place finish at the illustrious Paul Short Invitational.
Jennie Pernisi (Camden, NY/Altmar-Parish Williamstown) paced the Hornets with a time of 22:45 in the 6K event to take fifth place. Pernisi smashed the LC record in the 6K event, beating her own record of 23:17 established in 2007. She also set a new ODAC 2009 season-best time in the event, outpacing fellow Hornet Ashley Meyer (Springfield,MO/Glendale) who had set the mark at 23:44 earlier in the season. Meyer also beat the previous school record in the event as she placed 11th with a time 23:07. Meyer's previous career-best run occurred last year at this very event when she recorded a time of 23:22.
Aubrey Berry (Chesapeake, VA/Warren Township) continued the record setting day as she now stands at sixth place in the LC record book with a time of 24:16 en route to placing 40th on the day. Kiley Trennepohl (Monticello, IN/The Culver Academies) also broke into the LC records, clocking in at 24:37 for 66th place to take over the seventh best time in the annals of Lynchburg.
Pernisi, Meyer, Berry, and Trennepohl's times place them in the top 10 in the ODAC this season prior to this weekend's events.
Lindsay Fender (Fork Union, VA/Fluvanna), Ashley Saba (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park), and Monica Ramstad (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) each posted strong times to help propel LC to its high finish. Fender checked in at 25:27 for 106th place, Saba crossed the line in 145th place at 26:29, and Ramstad placed 164th with a time of 27:18.
Lynchburg hits the course again on Saturday, October 10, at UVA-Wise in Wise, VA.
