Lynchburg Volleyball Stuns Bridgewater College in Five Games Wednesday 

                BRIDGEWATER, VA - The Lynchburg College volleyball team pulled to 4-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Wednesday with a come-from-behind, five-set win over Bridgewater College in play from Nininger Hall.

Savannah Tinsley and Jasmine Murphy combined for 40 digs in the Hornet victory over Bridgewater Wednesday.                The host Eagles (5-9/3-3 ODAC) won the first two games with scores of 25-19 and 25-18. After the media intermission, the Hornets roared back taking the next two games 25-17 and 25-22. In the deciding game, Lynchburg (11-5/4-0 ODAC) was down 14-11 before reeling off the next five points to take the game and the match.

                LC was paced by sophomore Elena Kritter (Culpeper, VA/Rappahannock), who finished with a double-double of 13 kills and 21 digs. Freshman setter Brooke Moughon (Mathews, VA/Mathews) also posted a double-double, picking up 24 assists to go with 10 digs. Senior libero Savannah Tinsley (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) led the Hornets with 26 digs on the evening.

                The Hornets utilized a balanced attack, as Michelle Boucher (Chesapeake, VA/Nansemond-Suffolk) finished with 14 kills and newcomer Rebecca Loftis (Coventry, CT/Coventry) finished 10 times and blocked five Eagle attacks. Junior Jasmine Murphy (Shipman, VA/Nelson Co.) also had 16 digs for the Hornets, who broke an 11-game losing streak to BC dating back to 1999.

                Bridgewater was paced offensively by Erika Dirnagl and Katie Baker who each finished with 13 kills.  Senior setter Tricia Davis contributed 42 assists, and is now only 29 assists away from becoming BC's all-time assist leader.

                LC will welcome in the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College Saturday morning at 11 a.m. for Homecoming in Turner Gym.
