Lynchburg Golf Competes at Hampden-Sydney Invitational Monday
FARMVILLE, VA - The Lynchburg College golf team competed in day one of the Hampden-Sydney Invitational, played at par-72 Manor Golf Resort. Lynchburg "A" sits in seventh place after day one, as the team carded a 63-over 351, while Lynchburg "B" fired a 67-over 355.
The Hornets "A" team was paced by Conrad Anguera (Lynchburg, VA/Carlucci Amer. Int.), who shot a 12-over 84 on the afternoon. Junior Augie Camacho (Suffolk, VA/Lakeland) finished right behind with an 86 to tie for 32nd after one day, while Santi Anguera (Lynchburg, VA/Carluchi Amer. Int.) carded a 16-over 88. The Hornets also posted scores of 91 by Matthew Lipscomb (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield) and 101 by freshman Jacob Trent (South Boston, VA/Halifax Co.).
The Lynchburg "B" team was paced by Daniel Bost (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) and his 12-over 84. Junior Danny Hamblen (Oakton, VA/James Madison) posted an 86 and sophomore Sam Musselman (Mechanicsburg, VA/Cedar Cliff) shot a 15-over 87. The Lynchburg "B" squad was rounded out with scores of 98 by Dusty Scott (Ivor, VA/Tidewater Academy) and 99 by Jon Moneyhon (Dahlgren, VA/King George).
Randolph-Macon College is leading the tournament this far, firing a 33-over 321 through the first day. Hampden-Sydney College and Virginia Wesleyan College are both tied for second with a 325, in a field of 15 teams. Trae Kresinske of Virginia Wesleyan is the individual leader in the clubhouse after 18 holes after shooting a three-over 75.
LC finishes play tomorrow afternoon in round two at the Manor.
