LC Plays Well but Loses Two at Emory
EMORY, GA - The Lynchburg College volleyball team lost a pair of tightly-contested matches Saturday at the end of the two-day Emory University Tournament.
In the opener, the Hornets took third-ranked Emory to four games, but the Eagles won 25-17, 19-25, 25-15, 25-19. Elena Kritter (Culpeper, VA/Rappahannock) led LC with 15 kills and 11 digs, Michelle Boucher (Chesapeake, VA/Nansemond Suffolk) added 10 kills and Savannah Tinsley (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) had a team-best 23 digs. Jasmine Murphy (Shipman, VA/Nelson County) added 14 digs.
Lynchburg lost a tough match in the finale, 27-25, 25-23, 23-25, 26-24 in non-conference play to Washington & Lee University. Moughon had 19 assists, Rachel Turk (Salem, VA/Salem) had 16 with eight digs, and Tinsley posted 20 digs. Kritter contributed eight kills and 15 digs, Boucher drilled 11 kills and Murphy had 17 digs. Rebecca Loftis (Coventry, CT/Coventry) and Chelsea Jones (Richmond, VA/Monacan) each had seven kills and three blocks.
The Hornets (10-5) travel to Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe Bridgewater College Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
