Hornet Volleyball Takes a Pair at LC Tri-Match
LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College volleyball team swept a pair of matches Saturday as the Hornets hosted a tri-match in Turner Gymnasium.
Lynchburg defeated Roanoke College 25-20, 25-18, 25-19 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play in the opener. Freshman Mallory Stewart (Collinsville, VA/Bassett) had eight kills and three blocks and Rebecca Loftis (Coventry, CT/Coventry) had six kills and a team-high five blocks. Rachel Huffman (Virginia Beach, VA/Bayside) slammed seven kills and added three aces, Brooke Moughon (Mathews, VA/Mathews) had 18 assists and Rachel Turk (Salem, VA/Salem) contributed 13 assists and six digs. Savannah Tinsley (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) had 11 digs.
LC breezed to a 25-21, 25-18, 25-11 victory in the nightcap over Gallaudet University. Michelle Boucher (Cheaspeake, VA/Nansemond Suffolk) had a team-high six kills, and Loftis added five kills. Turk had 12 assists and Moughon had 10, and Tinsley had 12 digs and seven service aces.
The Hornets (9-1/2-0 ODAC) host Guilford College Wednesday at more ODAC play.
