LC and EMU Men's Soccer Battle to 1-1 Double OT Tie

LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie with the visiting Royals of Eastern Mennonite University in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action from Shellenberger Field.

Lynchburg (4-1-1/0-1-1 ODAC) outshot EMU (1-2-3/0-0-1 ODAC) 16-2 in the first half, but EMU's Mitchell Leap was able to give his team a 1-0 lead going into the half. Lynchburg would again dominate the shot totals in the second half, registered 16 to just five for EMU, however, LC could only score one goal as Josh Reed (Newark, DE/Caravel) headed the ball in the back of the net. The Hornets continued the trend into both overtime session as they had 10 shots to just one for the Royals.

Dillon Brunk of EMU had an outstanding performance in the net, recording several outstanding and game changing saves en route to 12 saves on the night. Matt Sturdivant (Bear, DE/Caravel) recorded five saves for LC.

Lynchburg returns to the field on Saturday as they host Randolph College at 7 p.m. as part of Parents and Family Weekend.
