PADI Rescue Diver Course

Saturday - Sunday, October 17-18, 2009

$195 (LC students and employees receive a $40 discount)

"Challenging" and "rewarding" best describe the PADI Rescue Diver course. Building upon what you have already learned, this course expands on what you already know about how to prevent problems, and how to manage them if they occur.

What You Learn

Self-rescue
Recognizing and managing stress in other divers
Emergency management and equipment
Rescuing panicked divers / rescuing unresponsive divers
Emergency management and equipment
Swimming and non-swimming assists / panicked diver response
Underwater problems / Missing diver procedures
Surfacing the unconscious diver / In-water artificial respiration
Getting victims out of the water
First aid procedures for pressure related accidents
The entire course comes together in mock dive accident scenarios

The Learning Materials You Need

PADI Rescue Diver crewpak includes all materials required to complete the PADI Rescue Diver course -You will learn how to think like a rescue diver and preview skills you will practice with your PADI Instructor. Once your Rescue Diver course is complete, you can review the DVD to refresh your dive safety skills as needed. This toolbox of knowledge and techniques will give you the expertise to handle almost any emergency situation. You will need your own pocket mask, not provided.

Prerequisites

To enroll in the PADI Rescue Diver course, you must:

  • Be 15 years or older
  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or have a qualifying certification from another organization)
  • Be trained and current for CPR within the previous two years

Included:

Pool fees / Instructor fees / Certification fee (lifetime certification) / Book
Does not include camping/entrance fees at Lake Rawlings

Schedule:

Classroom: Lynchburg College campus One Saturday (half day 10/17) (8 a.m.-12 p.m.)
One Saturday (half day) Pool 10/17 (12-5 p.m.)
One Sunday of dives at Lake Rawlings 10/18 (8 a.m.-4 p.m.)
