Lynchburg Women's Cross Country Wins the Virginia Wesleyan Invitational

Ashley MeyerVIRGINIA BEACH, VA - The Lynchburg College women's cross country team won the Virginia Wesleyan Invitational with 30 points as the runners up finished with 48 points.

The Hornets nabbed three of the top five finishers. Ashley Meyer (Springfield, MO/Glendale) took the top spot at the meet with a time of 23:44 in the 6K event. Jennie Pernisi (Camden, NY/Altmar-Parish Williamstown) trailed by just three seconds, 23:47, to take home a second-place finish. Molly Galloway (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) recorded a time of 24:02 to earn fifth place while Monica Ramstad (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) made her collegiate debut with a time of 25:10 to earn 10th place. Lindsay Fender (Fork Union, VA/Fluvanna) finished the course in 25:25.

Lynchburg hits the course on Saturday, September 12, at Elon University at 10 a.m.
