Women's Cross Country Slated Fifth in South/Southeast Region Preseason Poll
LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College women's cross country team was slated fifth in the South/Southeast Region in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association preseason poll.
In 2008, the Hornet women placed eighth at the regional meet and were paced by Ashley Meyer (Springfield, MO/Glendale) and Jennie Pernisi (Camden/NY/APW). Meyer finished 21st overall in 23:49 while Pernisi was right behind her with a 23rd overall placing in a time of 23:51. Both runners garnered All-Region accolades for their performances.
Also pacing the Hornets was Lindsay Fender (Fork Union, VA/Fluvanna) with a time of 25:08 for 51st place. Stephanie Searing (Skaneateles, NY/Skaneateles) ran 25:41 for 70th best, while Kelly Doescher (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) and Erin Grogan (Virginia Beach, VA/Ocean Lakes) finished in 105th and 123rd place, respectively.
The Hornets open up their season on Saturday, September 5, at 9 a.m. in Virginia Beach, VA, for the Virginia Wesleyan College Invitational.
